India and Australia Test Match, Bangalore

Following are the Cricket records that have come after the end of the 2nd Test Match in Bangalore between Australia and India Test Match


- SR Tendulkar scored 214 and 53 not out in the second test at Bangalore against Australia provides the 12th occasion of Indian batsmen scoring a double hundred and a fifty in a test match.

- The twelve occasions are – SM Gavaskar – 124 and 220 vs West Indies at Port of Spain in Mar 1971 : SM Gavaskar – 205 and 73 vs West Indies at Mumbai in Dec 1978 : R Dravid – 200* and 70* vs Zimbabwe at Delhi in Nov 2000 :  VVS Laxman 59 and 281 vs Australia at Kolkata in Mar 2001 : R Dravid – 222 and 73 vs New Zealand at Ahmedabad in Oct 2003 : R Dravid – 232 and 72* vs Australia at Adelaide in Dec 2003 : SR Tendulkar – 241* and 60* vs Australia at Sydney in Jan 2004 : W Jaffer – 202 and 56 vs Pakistan at Kolkata in Nov 2007 : SC Ganguly – 239 and 91 vs Pakistan at Bangalore in Dec 2007 : V Sehwag – 201* and 50 vs Sri Lanka at Galle in Jul 2008 : VVS Laxman – 200* and 59* vs Australia at Delhi in Oct 2008 and SR Tendulkar – 214 and 53* vs Australia at Bangalore in Oct 2010.

- SR Tendulkar has scored a double hundred and fifty in a test match on two occasions – 241* and 60* vs Australia at Sydney in Jan 2004 and 214 and 53* vs Australia at Bangalore in Oct 2010. He became the fourth Indian batsman to perform such a feat on two or more occasions. Others are – R Dravid {three occasions} : SM Gavaskar {two occasions}  and VVS Laxman {two occasions}.

- R Dravid - 200* and 70* vs Zimbabwe at Delhi in Nov 2000 : 222 and 73 vs New Zealand at Ahmedabad in Oct 2003 and 233 and 72* vs Australia at Adelaide in Dec 2003.

- SM Gavaskar – 124 and 220 vs West Indies at Port of Spain in Mar 1971 and 205 and 73 vs West Indies at Mumbai in Dec 1978.

- VVS Laxman - 59 and 281  vs Australia at Kolkata in Mar 2001 and 200* and 59* vs Australia at Delhi in Oct 2008.

- SR Tendulkar – 241* and 60* vs Australia at Sydney in Jan 2004 and  214 and 53* vs Australia at Bangalore in Oct 2010.

- It is interesting to note that apart from these four batsmen, no batsman from other countries has performed the feat on two occasions.

- SR Tendulkar scored 214 and 53 not out in the second test at Bangalore against Australia provides the 35th occasion of batsmen scoring a double hundred and a fifty in a test match.

- It is interesting to note that there are five occasions of a batsman scoring a double hundred and fifty against Australia.  On all these five occasions, it is Indian batsmen who have performed the feat – VVS Laxman on two occasions: SR Tendulkar on two occasions and R Dravid on one occasion.

- VVS Laxman - 59 and 281 vs Australia at Kolkata in Mar 2001 and 200* and 59* vs Australia at Delhi in Oct 2008 : SR Tendulkar – 241* and 60* vs Australia at Sydney in Jan 2004 and  214 and 53* vs Australia at Bangalore in Oct 2010 : R Dravid – 232 and 72* vs Australia at Adelaide in Dec 2003.
